Anti-rabies vaccination drives
India is the world’s hotspot for rabies, where a third of all human cases occur. That’s the death of a child every hour. Rabies is an ancient and vicious virus that is spread between warm-blooded mammals through bites – over 99% of cases of human rabies are caused by an infected dog bite. Protecting dogs by vaccinating them is the quickest and fastest way to protect people and tackles the disease at the source.
To prevent rabies in and around Panchgani, Janice’s Trust conducts regular anti-rabies vaccination drives in both owned and street dog populations.
Animal Birth Control
Keeping the street dog population under control is essential for reducing human-dog conflict, sick and unwanted puppies, aggressive mating behaviours, and rabies. Janice’s Trust performs regular ABC (Animal Birth Control) programmes in line with the recommendations from the Animal Welfare Board of India.
Education and awareness programmes
At Janice’s Trust we believe in conducting awareness and education programmes in the community to allow street animals and humans to live amicably alongside each other and to foster kindness and compassion towards all living creatures.
